For the first time, Michael P. Desronvil, the lone juror who voted to convict Lindsay Clancy, has publicly explained why he stood by his decision. In an interview with Fox News, Desronvil, 48, pushed back against fellow jurors who claimed he acknowledged having reasonable doubt but still refused to support a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity. “I had a lot of evidence to back up my claim,” he said, adding that he would leave the matter to the court process for now. His attorney, Edward Paltzik, was equally firm, saying Michael had “zero doubt” and pointing to what he described as a mountain of evidence. But the jury’s disagreement was so deep that the trial ended in a mistrial on September 4, after nearly 40 hours of deliberations. Eleven jurors reportedly favored finding Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity, while Desronvil stood alone. Clancy, a 36-year-old former labor and delivery nurse from Duxbury, Massachusetts, is accused of killing her three young children—Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan—in January 2023. She has not denied the killings but pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Her defense has argued that she was experiencing postpartum psychosis and severe mental illness. Prosecutors, meanwhile, have argued that the killings were intentional and premeditated Now, the legal battle is far from over. On October 1, the judge rejected the defense’s request to enter not-guilty verdicts. The defense has also filed motions seeking dismissal on double-jeopardy grounds and an investigation into Desronvil’s conduct during jury deliberations. Prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will retry Clancy. A hearing on the pending motions is scheduled for November 2, and a new trial could potentially be delayed until 2027. Meanwhile, Clancy remains in a state psychiatric hospital on suicide watch. Three children lost their lives, a family was shattered, and now the justice system faces difficult questions about mental illness, criminal responsibility, and what happens when a jury cannot agree. Should one juror be able to prevent a verdict when the other 11 disagree? How should the justice system balance severe mental illness with accountability for an alleged crime? Do you believe this case should go to a new trial, or should the court consider another legal outcome? Share your thoughts respectfully. This case involves real lives, grieving families, and serious legal questions. #Clancy #Crime #JosephScottMorgan #bodybagswithjosephscottmorgan #Murder @Kim Hamrick Morgan
