I haven’t posted in awhile. Not because God has been quiet. Because I’ve been quiet. Seeking Him. Learning Him. Sitting with Him. Letting Him continue to reveal what has been underneath so much of my fear, striving, and need to understand what comes next. And today, Jeremiah 29 hit me differently than it ever has before. We quote, “For I know the plans I have for you…” But the deeper message is not that God promises us the outcome we want. It is that God remains faithful to His purposes even when we cannot understand what He is doing. The exiles wanted to go home. God told them to build houses, plant gardens, live faithfully where they were, and trust Him with a future they could not yet see. That has become one of the greatest lessons of my own wilderness: Be faithful in the place you wouldn’t have chosen while trusting God with the future you cannot see. For so much of my life, I thought peace would come when I had answers. When I knew what was next. When the business was secure. When provision made sense. When I knew whether certain doors would open. When I could finally see where God was taking me. But God has been teaching me something much deeper: I do not need to know the plan if I know the One who does. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.” Not seek the answer. Not seek the outcome. Not seek the promise more than the Promise Keeper. Seek Me. That has been the wilderness for me. Learning to stop asking God to prove His goodness through the outcome I want. Learning to stop making peace dependent on understanding. Learning to stop treating Him like the means to the life I hoped for. And learning that my ultimate future and hope is not a particular earthly outcome. It is Christ Himself. That means I can still pray boldly. I can still build, work, dream, love, and hope. But none of those things get to become the thing I need in order to believe God is good. Because if Christ is the treasure, then even when I do not understand the chapter I am in, I can still trust the Author. So this is where I am today: Building. Planting. Obeying. Seeking. Trusting. Not because I know exactly how this story ends. But because I am finally learning that I do not need to. I know Him. And that is enough.
