@keylimelanna: Like how are you going to recognize my high energy (arguably one of the most well known characteristics of ADHD) enough to shame me for it but not consider I’m ADHD and have support needs crazyyy #adhd #autisticcreator #neurodivergent #actuallyautistic #adhdinwomen #audhd #adhdtok #autistic #autisticadult #autism #adhdtiktok
I'm "too much", "too sensitive", or "too annoying" everytime I do it. 😭😭

yess i feel like im holding myself back and hiding my true self everytime i’m excited and have to take a step back and just act nonchalant when that’s not me 😭 i don’t feel safe expressing that childlike excitement anymore bc of that trauma

it's part of the reason we get to a point that we just sit in silence at group settings. it's heartbreaking

This genuinely destroyed my psyche growing up. I was told I was being annoying and suddenly I developed this complex where I worried about how I was perceived in every interaction, so I became a people pleaser for a decade and a half. 😞

it’s “CHILL OUT” then it’s “you don’t sound excited” who knew the “hyper kid” would turn out to be so unenthusiast adult💀

YES!! It’s affected my ability to express join and my willingness to devote myself to things. I once had a teacher publicly embarrass me for taking too much interest in HIS assignment. I never forgot that.

THIS OML!!! Even elementary school, I had teachers “remove a card” when I would cheer or something??? And I get told I do too much, or I need to “tone it down”. Now I’m scared to show ANY emotion until I’m fully comfy with someone and even then I’m too self aware to fully be myself, it hurts.

My volume goes up too much and I don’t realize. Then I’m yelling and excited and freaking people out. 😞

I was told to "act like a man not a silly boy" so as a 33 year old I invoke the whimsical, the silly, all the emotions and the other people that told me to chill were not my people

Uuugh the "you know im sitting right next to you" when you're talking loud from excitement, or the "take it down a notch" comments are the worst. I was happy and now I'm ashamed 😔

Yeeeeeppp I've been shaaaaamed so much even by people who i once called friends. for being passionate. knowing damn well I've been carrying trauma and shame all my life due to religious upbringing. theres a reason they're not my friends anymore.
