I considered myself a progressive. I’ve become disillusioned in the last few years because of the righteousness and intolerance of the party. The emotional arguments and lack of rational reasoning are troubling.

I’m your age. I own my own business and have a family. We are social people but not in a educational or leadership position. I still would not oppose my core friends or associates on social media. I feel it’s financially and socially negligent to me and my family. I’m surprised anyone other than a political activist would. No one human can save the world. I love to have debate and learn from opposing views with others in an individual or small group. BUT…If this happened I would be honest and inquiring enough to say I’m a complex person, growing and changing till I’m dead. I may be here or somewhere else when they check back but for now accept or discard me. I’m on my own journey. In the end I’m to old and actually to fall apart over others thoughts of me.

I think it’s been a challenge as far back as I can remember to trust in my own beliefs, simply because I feel like I just don’t have enough information, or knowledge on a subject to be convicted in a truth. So maybe it’s the constraint of a popular belief shared by your faction of friends and family instead of being open to contrasting information; to allow other people to change my mind. To let that ego drop and look for truth rather than affirmation. The larger we get entrenched in our own ego the harder it is. I like what you’re examining.
