@steadyrein: Replying to @Baus already seeing a big difference in his sensitivity to light🙏 alright keyboard warriors! let’s remember that horse skin is different than humans. no, it doesn’t burn worse. black absorbs uv, but doesn’t trap heat dangerously in skin this thin. yes, dark pigment reduces uv penetration. that’s photobiology 101, not opinion. no, it’s not replacing melanin. it mimics its function in high-risk pink skin. yes, pink skin has a higher rate of squamous cell carcinoma, especially around the eyes. no, this doesn’t replace fly masks or shade. it’s one more layer of defense no, it doesn’t block all uv, but it absorbs enough to help. human skin is thicker and naturally better at handling uv — horse skin, especially pink areas, is thinner, more exposed, and way more vulnerable to damage. that’s why this matters, even IF it only helps by 1%, that is significant in the long run.
