@outwithafinn: I built a bushcraft shelter to get cover from rain, and it was a lot of work to make a roof that could keep me dry. Adding pain tree branches from bottom up, like laying a brick roof, will help you stay dry in small rain. However, notice that it is very difficult to fully rainproof a shelter with just natural resources. To be honest, I am not even sure if its entirely possible.
