I am a government worker and part of my job is to take convoluted overly confusing policy and translate it into something people can understand. Gatekeeping public information is my biggest pet peeve. Information should be free, always.

I just accepted that when I don't understand the words used, it's just my vocabulary is at a lower level than what I am reading. Turns out it's not a totally me problem.

In math it was often not correct to use the common words because they are not as rigorous as the ”complex” words. In economics they made easy mathematical concepts extremely complex.

I had a professor in uni that told us when we asked him how come we understand the subject so well when he explained it and got nothing from the books: " I wanted to publish a book for you, this is just bachelor degree and you are learning the basics here, but the language in books is too much. I wrote the book and gave it for a review, they returned saying that it's too easy to understand." Needless to say he was my favourite professor.
