Phd is only good if you want to teach at a university. LCSW is a must if you want every door career wise to open for you. I’m almost done with my LCSW!

I opted for a DSW over a PhD( I’m more of an application girlie than a research girlie) I’m over half way through my clinical hours for LISW. Best advice is to write down your professional goals and see what is needed to achieve them.

Definitely get your LCSW! You can still teach with just that but if you are greedy like me LOL I’m getting my doctorate of education in Community Care Counseling! I opted for that instead of a PhD or a PsyD due to less years, less research and no residency

If i have LGSW/LMSW trying to do exam for LCSW but if i ever go back for PhD it won’t be in SW . I will do clinical psychology.

Worth it!!! Gaining as much education I can in social work while adding doctor to my name is my goal!! Paying off tuition shouldn’t stray you from it.

There are a lot of people telling you that a PhD is only for if you want to be a professor and that’s a lie. A PhD is very diverse and can lead to many different careers!!! I went for a PsyD instead because I’m not as into the research part of it. I recommend thinking of your long term goals and seeing what licensure will be best FOR YOU!

LCSW will open many doors. PhD or DSW does not substitute LCSW but more about what your goals are. PhD is research oriented and DSW is practice oriented.

I went a different route that is truly beneficial to me! I have my LCSW and certification in a School Social Worker, then I got my EdD doctoral degree! The connection was teaching in Education. I am teaching on the college level after retiring from being a School Social Worker. I am also a Mental Health Therapist. I Love My Life Choices! 🥰 💯

PhD is only good if you want to do research or get into teaching, but you don’t really need a PhD to teach at a university, but it’s nice. LCSW-C is what’s going to open so many doors for you.
