how old is he? you can get him aac device through his school . he's already using it. talk to your iep ppl and get it going; takes some time to get it fyi

I just have a question I wonder every day my daughter is 3 and a half and just diagnosed with level 3 none verbal autism and sometimes I wonder if she understands what I'm saying to her some things I no she understands but not a lot of things she doesn't really respond to things I say sometimes not even her name when I call her when you're son was 3 how did u know if he understood what you where saying

If these buttons were able to be put on the objects in the home the child could press those buttons then we could be more sure about what the needed and wanted. love this🥰

Hi! I am a SLP and this is great because he is quickly picking up on utilizing the buttons. You should look into your states “lending library” to trial different devices (https://www.aaccessible.org/at-lending-libraries) ; also if he is in school, you can request an Assistive Technology Evaluation from the ESE team and he would most likely qualify for a device that the school would provide. They usually do an 8 week trial and then once the device is added to the IEP it can go to and from home during the school year; also if he has a tablet there are some free AAC apps (SymboTalk) is a great one because it has voice output, plus you can add your own vocabulary/pictures for items specific to your son! This is nice- do your son also have a pec book? I’m a RBT soon to be a BCBA and there’s a lot of help for individuals with autism. This is a great tool for families for children who do not have a PEC or ADL

No judgement because we are all on a spectrum, I just wanna share! I didn’t give my son one of these through speech therapy and a year later he can verbally express his needs. Now his speech pattern is nowhere near perfect, but I’m so happy I get to hear his little voice. I wish all you moms the best of luck on this journey! I’m so proud of you creator as well as anyone reading! Love you!
