His say it as if he regrets the success of the human race. Would you rather we be tiny populations surviving on the savannah constantly starving, ignorant and superstitious, being hunted by other animals? It is fantastic that the human race dominates the world, it’s what has enabled us to progress as species increase life expectancy, reduce child mortality, feed so many people who would otherwise start to death and live a much better, more human existence.

Unfortunately, overpopulation is no longer part of the mainstream conversation. A lower population means fewer consumers to sustain the capitalist system. That's why wild animal populations are disappearing rapidly, while the only animals left are increasingly those farmed for human consumption.

Most wildlife loss is due to loss of habitat. Adopting a plant based diet could reduce the amount of agricultural land required by around 75%. Chicken production requires less land and feed than beef/pork/lamb.
