acrylic is a plastic, even in paint form. feeding any living being, even as small as a fly, a diet of plastic for the sake of aesthetics and for your own gain is yes, unethical. and yes before anyone says it, how many micro plastics we're forced to eat isn't ethical either.

I wonder if he was inspired by work in a fly lab — I’ve worked in one and a common way to confirm if our flies are eating the provided food is by adding food coloring to it :) the red bellies are easy to spot!
