This career can honestly be a nightmare and there’s no work life balance and can be easily replaced with AI. I’m happy you love it, but I wouldn’t suggest people getting into this career field because it won’t be around in the next 5-10 years. Also a lot of C-suite execs are not nice from experience 😭.

I was an EA for 4 years for an architecture firm and it while it was incredibly challenging it also taught me SO MUCH and I loved how every day was totally different.

I’ve been an EA for around 2 years, transitioned to this after teaching!! curious if you ever have to touch personal items. I support a CEO and feel like I’m alllll over the place in what I’m doing (social media, HR related tasks, marketing + personal items, calendar support, travel, creating decks etc.). I’m always curious what other EAs expectations are!! btw love following you :)

EA here and you’re spot on! It’s cliche but I always say I wear a bunch of different hats in my job but it’s why I love it. And who you support makes the world of difference in your job satisfaction. Another great perk is there’s EAs in all types of industries!

Former EA and chief of staff for 7 years. Love this. Early in my career I read that you have to be comfortable serving someone else to be an EA. Some people aren’t cool with that and that’s okay, but you won’t succeed in the role. Serving my execs was very rewarding so I loved it.
