@cbsnews: Video shows Ecuadorian law enforcement holding down one of the country's biggest drug lords — more than a year after he escaped from prison. Jose Adolfo Macias, also known as "Fito," was reportedly serving a 34-year sentence for drug trafficking, organized crime and homicide when he escaped from the Guayaquil Regional Prison in 2024. Macías, who led a gang called "Los Choneros," was captured in the Ecuadorian city of Manta, his hometown, officials said. In April, he was indicted in New York City on charges he imported thousands of pounds of cocaine into the United States. Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa announced Macías' arrest in a social media post, saying: "We have done our part to proceed with Fito's extradition to the United States, we are awaiting their response."
