It's called a tilt crash gate. Far simpler than a sliding gate, more compact mechanics

northern states have lift gates, otherwise they get blocked/ packed in by snow in the winter. I have been through many up here and the only exception I've seen is cover with large hydraulics

dude, i drive past a storage place on my way to work, never saw it with the gate open. then one random morning i drove by it when it was open and it was one of these and i NEVER SAW ONE BEFORE. i just about damn near crashed my car i was so distracted by it.

in the gate business we call those guillotine gates. i know several companies thay refuse to perform maintenance on those because they fail and can hurt people
