I don’t like how transitioning might be objectified into another type of plastic surgery, or “cosmetic” BUT if people take hormones because they want to get closer to their ideal body in terms of how they view themselves/their gender that is a positive… I’m very conflicted

I think this is great! Of course, cis men getting top surgery tattoos seems gross, and cis women giving themselves fake bulges seems less gross but still pretty gross, but I think moving towards a society where people embrace non-gender-conformity, regardless of their motivation, will help normalize it. Trans people won’t seem as alien if cis people are doing hrt as well. Of course, those specific things are very fetishy, but I’m sure that will fade out as we become more recognized. And besides, I’d much rather be fetishized than killed. There’s some sprinkles of cope in my mindset but not a lot of things give us the opportunity to look at the positive

It’s not a trend though, it’s our own fault for making it so bright , colourful and trendy. I’m a trans man, I tell very few people and when I do it’s to show how normal we are because everyone doesn’t believe me when I say it. Hormones should never be an “over the counter” medication, you cannot control the changes that happen when you take them and you can never reverse them to be exactly how you were. You take T gel to get a sharper jawline? Yeah that MIGHT happen while your beard grows and your voice drops. This isn’t a fashion trend or a fad everyone can jump on and then just drop when it’s not cool anymore bc the changes are PERMANENT

using HRT for gender expression as a cis person is VERY different than using our experiences, as a cis person, to profit off of and fetishize us. those are two different things, and I think they require two different conversations

(Correct me if I’m wrong, I’m cis) While I appreciate the nuance in this video and exeptence, I think it’s important to the trans community and the whole LGBT to not let our identities become trends, similar things happened during quarantine with being bisexual trending and it ended in some bi erasure later on (same with mental disability), I don’t want that to happen to yall. And boys in school are pretending to be LGBTQ because it's easier than going through school as a straight male. As LGBTQ they get compassion instead of blame and are told they are amazing instead of toxic. I have two friends with boys who are going through this. Not every place is the same. If you live in an area filled with bigots you're experience will be different, but it doesn't change what happens in the rest of the sane west
