This is the best sandwich shop in Charlotte. It’s called La Lima Sangucheria, and they are serving up chef driven creations on Pan de Cristal bread that they import from Spain. I’ve been a few times now, and everything has been absolutely delicious! From the sandwiches, the Tusan is my favorite. They take steak and grill it up with a saltado sauce, onions, peppers, tomatoes, and put it on their toasted bread with Carretillero Sauce, more of the saltado sauce, and some micro greens. The flavors come together incredibly. It’s rich and savory, yet has some brightness from the chili pepper sauce. Don’t worry though - it’s not spicy. The Chicharron is also excellent. They take the same bread and pepper sauce, and top it with sweet potato, crispy pork belly, and Peruvian pickled onions. And while still savory, the sweetness of the potato, coupled with the acid from the pickled onions cuts through the richness of the pork belly to make it a very well balanced bite.  The Sakura is one of the most popular sandwiches though - think of it like tuna poke, with crispy onion, radish, and spicy mayo on pan de Cristal. It’s also a great option. Or for something a bit lighter, the sensei bowl topped with chicken, egg, and avocado is also quite nice (and VERY filling). But save room for dessert. They do a passion fruit juice that I’m actually obsessed with, and the pastry is brilliant. There are a bunch, but expect to find options like an almond tart, passion fruit cheesecake, tres leches, multiple types of eclairs, and my personal favorite is this chocolate torta that they made using the owner’s mother’s recipe. It’s so soft and light, yet rich and decadent with almost a pudding like filling between the layers. You don’t want to miss it.
