they didn’t know what the indoninus rex actually was. neither of them knew its build, it’s type, what it looks like, height, weight, sound etc. it quite literally could have been half the size of a velociraptor but twice as deadly for all they know.

Another thing is, wouldn’t there be more evidence to suggest that the dinosaur “climbed” over the wall, maybe such as the lack of a wall and the sudden apperence of Rubble?
