I think it depends on the individual. Personally, I don’t see medication as a long term solution, but I do believe it can play an important role when our minds feel overloaded. From my experience, medication doesn’t fix ADHD or change who we are. It gives us the breathing space to slow down, think clearly, and start creating a life that works for us.
I’ve always felt like my brain wasn’t designed to fit into the mold of society. We think differently, feel differently, and we are different. Medication helped me pause long enough to begin understanding myself, to build a plan, to heal, and to grow. But healing isn’t about the medication, as I said it’s helped assist for sure but taking care of yourself through eating well, moving your body, being in nature, reflecting, resting, implementing positive change and learning to listen to your own needs. All of that matters most. Be your true authentic self.
In the end, it all comes back to the mind. Real change happens when we take the time to understand ourselves, accept who we are, and embrace how we’re wired. What works for one person might not work for another. I believe any mind altering substance, including medication, is only a temporary support. The root of it all lives within us everything starting in the mind. Thats where the real work begins.
