I prefer to replace the tube instead of patching it. the patches I used never stuck. I figured I'd have to take out the tube and put it back in anyway, so why not just replace the whole tube anyway lol

That is solid advice you gave: to sweep/ scan / check the inside and outside of your tyre, cause if there’s still debris like glass or a staple or something, you will get a flat again fast.
