You actually get to see the hardships, the growth, the deep meanings and real world situations that are shown throughout a long period of time. I believe if one peice was shorter it would show so little emotion. I dont get why people power scale. An anime isnt defined by power. Its defined by emotion. Its defined by the story. Luffy and his crew actually struggle. They grow like we grow. One Piece is in my opinion one of the closest animes to our lives. The fact that the anime is still going shows hiw dedicated oda sensei is for not just his story but how dedicated he is to the family he has created from luffy. One Piece is also going into more detailed lore making it even bigger for theories and speculations. The fact One Piece is doing this is why it is my number one anime. thats all i gotta say the.
