fill with caulk the first time, let it dry. then run your wood filler and it won't crack with expansion and contraction later on.

Hilarious no one knows how to fix this. I’ve installed crown moulding for 25 years. Use a hammer and block to hit both sides up and it will close the top. Then add a shim to the left or right bottom to close the bottom. This is called adjusting miters

You could use fc1 caulk for that kind of a job too but you have to be precise and not overfill because it doesnt sand. Its good because its a caulk and filler. My go to wood filler is toupret tho best one out there.
