Current Starbucks partner here and i think i speak for all of us when i say: we fucking hate writing on cups. It slows down productivity. We get written up if we don’t do it. And it feels disingenuous now because it’s a requirement, not something we’re doing because we randomly felt like it.

We can’t prewrite cause the cups are store stacked on top of each other and that would be just putting sharpie in peoples drinks so we have to do it all on the fly

A couple months before they were forced to someone wrote “you matter” and it made me cry. Now when I get my cups I’m like eh it’s just a message they tell everyone. It lost all its personalization.
