it so weiiiird to me bc in France (where I'm studying medicine) cardiology, is a 5 year residency, but you can add a fellowship to sub specialize in peds, or Cath lab etc cards, gi, nephrology, pulmonary are full on 4-5 years residencies here that you start right after med school

Peds cards attending here. Pediatric cardiology works with the heart too (the hearts are smaller). Very rewarding field. We work with all ages and cover acuity from the worried well all the way through some of the most complex conditions in medicine with critical congenital heart disease.

It's a residency in Greece 2 years of internal medicine and 4 of Cardiology. Also that goes for Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology , Rheumatology etc

In Germany it's minimum 8yrs after medical school. You do 6 years of internal medicine and then 2-3 years of further training in cardiology to be a cardiologist

Prob is weird mostly for IMG that come from countries that's considered a residency despite also having to do IM first. In Greece we don't have a match, it's a first come first served list and you have to do 2 years IM before going into cardiology but it's still considered a residency, you don't become an IM doc, cause you should do 5 years of IM to pass the IM qualification exams.
