they're playing double in/double out scoring. you have to hit a double with your first dart to start the scoring and then finish your 501 with a double for it to count.

In a 501 game, you need to hit a double to finish. He's got 10 left, so he HAS to hit double 5. If he hits the 10, it's called a bust
