I agree with what the farmer did I'm a big dog lover and i know a farmer that had to do this and it still haunts him to this day, it's not a easy thing to do

ALL dogs are capable of this , it's all down to the owner, when my patterdale was a pup he got in a farmer's field off a canal , and wouldn't stop chasing the sheep , i eventually diveoon him , the farmer did come over to us and gave us a proper telling off, fortunately no sheep were injured! after that i used an electric collar, which sorted him out

farmers protecting his livestock and his livelihood. It's a horrible thing to do and you can hear it in the farmers voice but he has to do what he has to do.

I've had to shoot dogs before that were attacking our livestock. It's horrible to do and the guilt afterwards lingers for so long. But when our animals are in danger and actively being killed we have to protect them and our business at all costs. Both our guard dog and sheepdog got seriously injured one year trying to protect the other animals from 3 big breed dogs attacking. Both dogs sustained serious injury and we lost 4 cows and 7 sheep but we could of lost alot more had it not been for our dogs protecting as well as they did. Fortunately both dogs pulled through and a long time of recovery. Sadly we shot all 3 aggressive dogs, we faced huge backlash from some locals more so those who knew the dogs/owners, who said the dogs would of never done that kind of damage as big softies. But once we showed the pictures and barn cctv evidence of injuries our dogs got and the after killing of our livestock people became horrified and soon went silent. Farmers are massive dog lovers so the thought we have of shooting a dog is heartbreaking but we have to protect ourselves and our animals. For those who think it's unjust then maybe learn to train your dogs, keep them restrained when near/on farm land then we won't have to do it. This farmer alone if he lost say 15 sheep he's lost easily 4k in just sheep let alone feed and running costs. Are dog owners gunna pay up the loss he's suffered...i very much doubt it.

It’s sad as it isn’t the fault of the dogs they haven’t been trained/taught it’s the fault of the owners and they should be 100% liable for the sheep

Stupid people don't know what they've got on their hands when owning a dog like that ,they'll say "he wouldn't hurt a fly" or sumat similar, its the dogs primal instincts to fight nd kill its what they were bred for.Know what your owning and act accordingly if you got one of these dogs .

It’s good that this was filmed it show everyone that we don’t enjoy shooting dogs but it has to be done and it’s extremely hard on us remember nearly every farmer has a dog that his spends all his time with so it hard for us to shoot another dog when we have to
