First thing: The people credited with figuring out evolution, including Darwin, were almost all Christians who were trying to better understand God’s creation and going with the evidence that they found. They believed understanding the natural world brought them closer to God, which I think is actually a very beautiful philosophy and is closer to the actual word of their faith, not that that matters to lots of Christians. Second thing: I’m a social worker, people with a schizophrenia diagnosis tell me God talks to them about half the days in the week to the point it’s become concerning when I hear that kind of logic outside of work. I’m genuinely concerned more people are experiencing actual psychosis because of faith-based delusions.

Sends me back to in 8th grade science when we were learning how about fossils and a kid raised his hand and said “Excuse me but, I don’t believe dinosaurs ever actually existed, cause the bib-” and our teacher said “In this science class we believe in SCIENCE.” And kept teaching 😭 Miss you Mr. Wilkee
