I would ask your vet if you can get some gabapentin. It helps with the anxiety and calming them down

I just hang out with mine, she gets nervous so I just stay with her, lots of love and treats and eventually she feels comfortable enough to come out

Try to soundproof a hiding area as much as possible :) they will always be scared so I think trying to make a bad situation better is the only way to go about it

I had a cat that was terrified of fireworks and I would put classical music on for her during those holidays. She always fell asleep :)

Tbh taking them out of where they chose to hide would be the worst option, try to just talk to them and tell them it’s ok, some cats will crawl onto your lap some cats won’t do it best you can do is just let them know your there, give them a small bowl of water and maybe distract them with a toy if they are willing to play with it

if they like to hide have a blanket on hand when it starts. my cat gets so anxious during rain/storms, he’s learned to run to me and get under my blanket. sometimes before it even starts n that’s how ik it’s gonna storm.

treats, cuddles, playing low/quiet rain sounds to slowly introduce them, blankets, and toys! interact with them (slowly ofc as to not scare them more) as if it was a normal day/night

I honestly embrace the hiding because I imagine it like a sage place. mine is under our bed and I have totes I rearranged specifically to help them hide. especially with 4th of july there already under there in the past week!
