@featlorenzo: So yes, this is indeed a very senior trip. Not everybody likes to do it because it’s not necessarily the most efficient way to spend six days of work. That being said many people do like having a more easy-going experience at work. I personally prefer spending less time at work and more time at home so it would not be my top choice as a trip if I had the seniority to bid for it. However, it was very refreshing to be able to relax on my overnight and not have to run around in order to get to see things. Usually, I have to wake up really early and get to the tourist destinations on very little rest, but this time I didn’t need to do that. Some pilots also get to the hotel leave their stuff behind and go fly on Air New Zealand to other parts of the country during their long layover! This trip isn’t even that challenging either, for the most part the only issues that will present themselves are weight restrictions if you’re flying at 777–200ER with the PW4090 engines. I have to say that it was a tremendous experience being able to go see a country that I haven’t visited myself yet, and getting paid to do it was the cherry on top!
