@polkfarms: from the dirt and into the pantry in a single day. These are the kind of skills that need to be taught in school. 🥒 🫙 #fromscratch #dillpickles #canningandpreserving #canningseason #homesteadliving #southernkitchen #preservingtheharvest #polkfarms
Do the pickles actually stay crunchy? I’ve always done refrigerator pickles for fear they would become soft and mushy if I canned them

Do you feel like the extra crunch works? Every time I make pickles, they’re always soft and not crunchy.

This is almost how I make mine as well! I’m hoping the xtra crunch helps keep ours crunchy this year. I tried bay leaves etc last year and after about 6 months I was disappointed in the loss of crunch. My husband said we needed to do all spears this year because you pack them tighter and they stay crunchier. Have you noticed that?

A little FIY, You’re using the jar lifter upside down. Hold on to the wooden part and use the silicone end to hold the jars. 😉

If your dill has went to seed already, does it change the flavor profile for the pickles or can you still use it?
