While every stylist is different with their opinion on this – I definitely believe that if you have gray hair you 100% should arrive for your color appointment with clean hair! Dirty hair does not ever color better. In the past, we’ve told people not to shampoo before coming to their appointment because we didn’t want the scalp to be irritated and become irritated by coloring and lightning services. If you’re getting highlights, it’s typically not touching your scalp so non-issue on concerns with scalp irritation.
