Was there someone burning brush even on neighbors place that was semi close? We had one do exactly the same no evidence of lightning but a neighbor was burning brush and we think an ember drifted down.

Yes I had the exact same thing happen when we were gone on vacation came home started checking on things a thunderstorm had rolled through that day and I found it smoldering

I was on the local fire department for 11 years we had a call to hay bales on fire due to lightning
