Follow @theadeolacrown for more day trip from NYC! Fun Day Trip from NYC – Part 13: Poughkeepsie Edition! Save this if you’re looking for a scenic escape, good food, and even better vibes—all without a car. We took the Metro-North Hudson Line from Grand Central (1hr 52min) to Poughkeepsie, the last stop and a gateway to some seriously underrated spots in the Hudson Valley. First stop: Mid-Hudson Bridge—and this isn’t your average bridge. Thanks to composer Joseph Bertolozzi, it literally plays music! He turned the bridge into an instrument using sounds from the structure itself. You can listen while walking across or tune into 95.3 FM nearby. It’s such a unique experience. Next, we walked down to Governess Restaurant, perfectly placed between the Mid-Hudson and Hudson bridges. It’s right by the water with stunning views, amazing food, and even better service. Highly recommend for brunch or lunch. Then we strolled through town and stopped at Zeus Brewing. Their rooftop has panoramic views of the bridge and their craft beer is brewed in-house. Such a chill spot to unwind. After that, instead of taking the bus to Beacon or Fishkill, we grabbed a cab (20 mins) to Milea Estate Winery—ranked #1 in the Hudson Valley! Think wine tasting with dreamy vineyard views. Perfect for golden hour. To wrap it up, we headed to Walkway Over the Hudson, starting from Parker Ave. It’s a peaceful walk with breathtaking views, and just a short stroll back to the train for the ride home. No car, no problem. Just good vibes, great wine, and a little Hudson Valley magic. Save this for your next day trip, and follow for more NYC getaways!
