New skills, stronger opinions, and a whole lot more personality can make some totally normal behaviors feel concerning. Here are 5 that catch parents off guard: 😴 1. Sleep suddenly gets worse More waking, fighting naps, or wanting you at night can happen around this age as development, separation anxiety, and new skills collide. 😭 2. Random meltdowns… then they’re totally fine One second they’re devastated. Two minutes later? Happiest baby alive 😂 They’re starting to have BIG feelings without any way to regulate or explain them yet. 👩 3. Suddenly preferring one parent Baby might cry when one parent leaves or only want ONE person to hold them. This can be a normal part of attachment and separation anxiety. 🥑 4. Mealtime becomes a MESS Smearing, squishing, dropping, throwing, and playing with food isn’t necessarily “bad behavior.” Exploring food with their hands is part of learning how to eat. 🥜 5. Wondering if every little change is an allergen reaction Was that redness there before? Was that new food the reason they got fussy? When you’re introducing so many foods, it can be hard to remember everything.
