Alcohol is one of society’s biggest lies. It’s sold as glamour, fun, confidence, celebration — like it somehow makes life richer. Everywhere you look, it’s wrapped in beautiful packaging: champagne on TV, cocktails at brunch, wine to “unwind,” always tied to luxury, status, and feeling special.
But underneath the marketing and the social pressure, it’s still something that can dull your mind, disrupt your sleep, affect your body, and leave you feeling worse than before. What’s so powerful is how normalized it’s become — to the point where if you question it, people look at you like you’re the problem.
The truth is, a lot of people aren’t drinking because it makes them feel amazing — they’re drinking because they’ve been conditioned to believe it’s part of joy, connection, beauty, or escape. That’s the real lie: that you need something outside yourself to feel more alive.
