Not diagnosing, don't come for me. I am autistic and have noticed with myself and autistic friends we also struggle with not adding context. "What kind of paper do you prefer?" For what purpose? "Do you prefer parties or libraries?" What kind of party? Is it my favourite local library or something random library.

If we’re both in the car, my husband will pump gas unless I run to do it but he won’t just go buy gas for my car unless he takes it and it’s low. So I could see where Jay was weighing options here.

I don’t view my spouse as someone I need to raise or train, she’s not a child, and I’m not her parent. Our relationship is built on mutual respect, not reward systems. Framing care, support, or consideration as either ‘bare minimum’ or ‘princess treatment’ turns adult partnership into a childish power dynamic. I don’t want to condition her into entitlement, nor reduce love to transactions. We’re building something together, not managing each other’s behavior.
