As someone with aspergers. I have a ton of the same symptoms. Part of my way of coping us often it is not even your fault. alot of people have difficulties socializing with nurodivergent individuals. Often they are not even aware of there people. As for conversations the hardest part is closing the conversation without coming across as rude. may I ask what are your hobbies and interests

THIS!! i feel that my love and aversion for connection can be narrowed down to a longing for sincerity - i can't register many interactions as, in a sense, socially nourishing. that disconnect turns like a weird existential mismatch and ahHHHHHH!! tldr makes me want to explode into confetti

completely relate. I have found connecting with neurodiverse ppl the best way of coping but in daily life most ppl you talk to simply aren't and will treat you different. Coping with loneliness has also meant online communities mean a lot to me even if its not as valuable as irl

So when a lot of people describe how autism presents they say "If you've met one person with autism, you've met one person with autism". What that essentially means is that autism is so different from individual to individual that it is significantly apparent to outsiders. My personal theory is that because it's so hard to find anyone that has similar kinds of autism you almost feel like you're completely one of kind. Like you're the only one that's like you so you have no one to relate to. That kind of loneliness is very profound and it regularly breaks my heart.

As an autistic person we make friends "differently" in an harder or more tiring thing. I'm an introvert so socializing is an almost physical effort. So I find myself alone a lot out of necessity. I sometimes feel lonely, but I'm also very happy on my own. Love you

100% as an autistic person i do experience both loneliness & autistic loneliness. i barely have any friends. i connect easily as an ADHDer but i struggle due to my autism to maintain any friendship. i always feel a huge disconnect but due to masking others may not see it as often although others often label me as "weird"/"odd"/"annoying' etc.

I understood what you meant from the first time you said the words. And it should be a term. Because it's not just being lonely. It's feeling like an alien in your own skin. It's hard to explain to even my family that I feel that disconnect, and no amount of words on their part will change the feeling. It's like I'm in a glass box even around my friends.

I can definitely relate. I both have trouble understanding other people sometimes and also being understood, being so different. Even with a lot of other neuro-divergents.

I have a touch of autism and could never make a dating relationship work beyond 5 years, and friendships about double that. I had no idea in addition to Tourettes, you deal with autism too. Since the forced isolation we all experienced during the pandemic, I came to realize I am totally content being alone and have stopped trying to override my 'normal self' which brought me a rare peace. Is there any advice/suggestion in that? Maybe. You are intelligent and you probably don't hear this often, but you are well spoken! Maybe it's my autism, but my brain just filters out your vocalizations that are tic related. Like they are background aural wallpaper ... like music, I focus on your words. 😉

I know exactly what you're talking about. Add to that the fact that I was an army brat, so any friends I might have been able to make, I lost anyway every year or two. Now it's pretty much my wife and my roommate I talk to. So if you ever want to talk, I'm here.

Confirmed: being an artist is a syndrome all of its own. And if you stop to look around you may find yourself yourself waking up to a narrative philosophical season. And as for making a choice between being and discovering a setting of tone for possible & solutions feeds my sense and my soul the rhythm 🎶 that keeps me saintly.
