@chasseurdesons: The sound of an oak tree creaking 🌳 While traveling through Brittany, I came across a small, quiet hamlet, with a chapel at the edge of the path. Right next to it stood several very old oak trees. These oaks are hollow and split. Their shape comes from lightning strikes that hit them over time. They no longer have a heartwood, yet they’re still alive. Leaves continue to grow. One of them was open enough to step inside. I did. It was the first time I ever recorded the sound of a tree from inside its trunk. When I looked up, I could see the entire internal structure of the tree. A special experience! That day, the wind was blowing: perfect conditions to record the creaking of this old tree 🌬️ To capture the sound, I used a combination of a geophone and a contact microphone.
