I'm a veterinarian, and have a unique perspective. Get a dog whenever you want to. The key is to be a responsible adult and respect, love, and keep the dog if the relationship ends. Far too many people treat their pets as a convenience.

I had chloe first for a year while I was living in LA and then moved to DC to be with my now husband after dating long distance. That dog became his dog/our dog SO fast and I knew he was the one. People don't always realize that I had her first bc that is HIS dog 😂😭 its almost 10 years later.
