HE SMOTHERED HIS WIFE BC HE WAS SELFISH AND LUSTFUL, he himself knows it, he regrets obviously and is in pain now, but he can't take it back he killed the person that loved him the most, and THAT makes him a bad man. Its so complicated. He isn't good, but he isn't bad. He is truly an amazingly written character. I feel bad for him but I also think he got what he deserved, he is too complex to be summarized with just "good" or "bad".

all these comments fighting with air by saying he's a bad man shows how they didn't get the point the game literally forces u to think about what's morally right for you and what's wrong, it challenges your view of morality by showing you different difficult situations. there's no good or bad characters, it's called being gray. every one of them is a representation for actual real life people, that shows how mental problems affect people's lifes. it's up to you to interpret what's okay for you and what's not, but not a single person in the game is full blown demon or a saint.

everyone fighting about whether he’s good or bad is supporting the creators’ whole point of the story about being a morally gray and how people can appear both good or evil and sometimes even be both. he’s not entirely good, but he’s not entirely evil either, if he was entirely evil the story wouldn’t exist, but if he was entirely good he wouldn’t have done what he did.

I love that the point was never to redeem him, but merely to make him come to terms with what he did and why he did it. It doesn’t make him any better of a person for what he did, and it was always more complex than just good or bad. He beat his silent Hill. What will he do now? Where will he go? What an amazing game.
