My mom is, has no family left, no friends, she’s pushed everyone away with her behavior. I was at her house and she was having a crisis that my husband and I are financially independent adults and will never need her help. It made me realize that she sees all relationships as transactional and if she has no power over someone, they have no reason to bother with her anymore. And it’s sad bc she created that reality for herself by treating people like commodities to be bought and sold.
