Toph prepared him the MOST for this fight. She was a real master of her element. The rest had just finished teachings or was still learning

Toph was definitely his best teacher. Giving him what he needed and not what he wanted.

Toph gave him the education he needed for fights like this. She fought at 12 like her life depended on it (it literally did), AND was the only one from team avatar who could be considered a master when teaching Aang

Aang was fortunate enough to have some of the greatest benders in the world as his teachers. Katara is widely considered one of the most talented and skilled waterbenders to ever live. His firebending came from the dragons themselves, as well as a fire prince with royal training who was mentored by Iroh, the Dragon of the West. As for airbending, Aang was taught by the greatest air nomads of his time and became one of the youngest airbending masters in history, earning his tattoos at just 12 years old. And across all of these disciplines, you could make the argument that there was someone out there who could have taught him even better. Not with earthbending. Every single one of his teachers was elite, S-tier by any measure, and yet for each one, you could theoretically point to someone more qualified. But Toph? Toph is the absolute apex of earthbending. There is no one better. No one to point to. Except for one person who could have arguably surpassed even her as a teacher. Adult Toph.
