It picked up a class championship every single year it raced in the American Le Mans Series. It was so good infact, that it made the other manufacturers in the class (Saleen, Dodge, Maserati, Aston Martin) quit. By 2009, only 2 Corvette CoRs remained in the class, which only competed for a couple of races before the class was killed off. The C5.R- C7.R dominated racing at ever level. It wasn't until everyone went mid-engine that the C7.R started to lose ground. No race team has ever been as successful during that amount of as GM. The C8.R is back and one of the best on the track every week.

I mean it came in at a really bad time in “gt1” or what was left of it. Aston was the only real competitor for corvette for like a year in 2005-6, before they focused on winning Le Mans against the corvette, which they did in 2007.
