@orcinus.blackfish: Kshamenk, the orca in the video, was reportedly rescued on November 19, 1992, and has been living at Mundo Marino’s facility in Argentina ever since. He has been living in complete isolation since the 2000s, when his tankmate, Belén, passed away. Around September 2022, Kshamenk’s physical appearance appeared to have undergone a drastic change. His body weight appeared to be substantially lower than it had been in the past, with a prominent depression behind his skull, often seen in emaciated orcas, which is never a good sign. Kshamenk’s weight is noticeably lower than that of other orcas his age. Plans to build a larger aquarium for him were scrapped due to the park’s financial problems. Although Mundo Marino has demonstrated that they do not have the capacity to care for an orca, they insist on keeping him at the park because he is considered native to Argentina. Because of this, Kshamenk’s life has been limited to: loneliness, hunger, and burns caused by an overly shallow tank.
