I also have a rarer dog breed - a mudi!! (probably not purebred because she’s a rescue, but around 80-90% mudi) Shikoku Ken’s are beautiful

I feel like a lot of the Japanese breeds are very similar dogs in different sizes and I love it lol. I have Akitas currently but would love a Shikoku or Kai Ken at some point

Tobitatsu Shiba Inu :
Big differences for me was that the Shikoku had much bigger exercise & mental stimulation requirements but, I found them to be pretty similar otherwise. My Shiba have a much more mellow temperament and my Shikoku got much more offended by the Shiba behavior and play. 😂

Gosh I would love to learn more and see if they would fit me better than a shiba, I worked with Shibas and love them but they are too independent for me.
