The complete destruction of Persepolis was undoubtedly one of the greatest tragedies of the ancient world. That did not make Alexander great at all. It was a cowardly act by him and his men. He knew Greece or rather Macedonia would not be able to build a magnificent city so out of jealousy, he ordered his men to burn and destroy Persepolis to the ground. On the contrary, the cathedral of Hagia Sophia in Istanbul was left intact and preserved by the Ottomans, didn't they?🤝😢🤝
