Hey I’m a midwife 🫶🏻 the reason we don’t check you more often is due to the risk of infection, especially after your waters have gone, even though we use sterile gloves and sterile gel 🥰 Congratulations Roo, you’ve done amazing!! Followed you for years and I’m so pleased to see your next chapter as a Mummy ❤️

I think everyone who gives birth deserves a medal regardless of what pain relief you did or didn't have they don't call it labour for nothing. the way you described the pethidine is exactly how my partner described me when I had my first lol

You’re lucky you weren’t induced 😂. Pitocin contraction are the worst. I went from 3cm to 9cm in 30 minutes 😵💫.

I told the midwives when I arrived on the Friday night that I wanted the epidural as soon as I was aloud 🥴 Saturday night I am in AGONY and they kept saying I can’t have it yet, awful night in pain, 7am I’m crying and begging them for something for them to then realise I’m 9cm and my son was born at 7:56am with no epidural 🥴 not doing that again 😂

The reason you aren’t checked more often is due to risk of infection, which considering you spiked a temp it good you didn’t have more VE. There are other indicators to suggest you’re fully dilated so a VE isn’t always required

I had a spinal block with my first due to him getting stuck, but with my second I did it completely unmediated and it was such an experience. I really recommend! It was incredible to feel every part of the experience and i was so proud of myself. But both births were incredible and neither more impressive in my eyes. Well done you, you are glowing 💕 you did amazing !!

Did they say why you had to wait an hour to push?? I gave birth a week before you and they had me push as soon as I hit 10 🤷🏻♀️although I didn’t have enough epidural and absolutely would not have made it an hour longer 😭

I had no pain relief with my 2nd baby just gas and air and she had to be plunged out as they thought the cord was round her neck..abosoulte chaos! She’s called River too. I’m expecting my 3rd baby in 3 weeks and I can’t wait to do it all again I love it. 💕
