considering that the range of the Nikon P1000 is 90 kilometers, the moon can only be within the Earth's atmosphere.

yea, that's definitely not 243,000 miles away. it's roughly around 3-4k miles up. same for our small local sun.and roughly around 3-4k miles in circumference

at that zoom rate, why can't you see all of the moon? I've never thought about it before. it doesn't make any sense.

why doesn't anyone zoom on the shadow area where the rest of the moon should be? if its just the suns shadow then we should still be able to see it?

How is it that we never see the 'unlit' half of the moon? I mean, if it's a solid object we should see the remainder of the object. Also, why does it always take the colour of the sky? If the sky is blue, the moon is blue, if the sky is black, the moon is black. It's almost as if the moon isn't a solid object afterall. Maybe, just maybe, it's a solar flare/plasma 🤯

The moon should play the lottery because it's incredibly lucky. The craters on its surface indicate that every object hit it at a 90 degree angle. 😄😄
