@mistar_michael: The Himba women of Namibia wear their identity, literally in their hair. 🇳🇦✨ Their intricate hairstyles are more than just beautiful, they’re a living archive of culture, status, and history. Coated in a rich red paste made of butterfat and ochre (otjize), the hair symbolizes strength, femininity, and deep connection to the earth. The iconic red hue also protects their skin and scalp from the harsh desert sun. Each style tells a story: 👧🏾 Young girls often wear two plaits (ozondato), while 👩🏾 Adolescent girls and unmarried women wear thick, textured braids covered in otjize, sometimes extended with goat hair. 👵🏾 Married women and mothers wear elaborate crown-like locks, often decorated with shells or beads. 🧕🏾 Elder women and spiritual leaders might cover their heads with headpieces made of animal skin. It’s not just fashion, it’s identity, passed down through generations. #HimbaWomen #NamibiaCulture #AfricanHairstyles #CulturalHeritage #NaturalHair #TravelNamibia #Travel #tourism #adventure

ya she's not bordered Namibia but from Angola. How to distinguish the difference Namibian ones only use leather but the Angolan ones use African Cloth and beads sometimes more covered than Namibian ones.
That's wonderful awareness and we continue to learn together ❤️

Please refrain from touching their hair. Would you like it if a stranger touched your hair? Even if their parents said yes, it’s not right. Do the right thing!
