@nikkaloola: Not everyone has a choice in whether or not they send their children to daycare, but absolutely every should should feel confident that their children are safe if they are there. Made sure to tell my sons male educator this morning that we were glad he was there. Unpopular opinion But I LOVE having a male educator for my son. Women aren't all innocent. GENERALLY they're so much more careful because any accusations go directly to the men because of the stat's and the bias against them in the childcare industry.

Raising Cooperative Kids by Rachel Thomas helped me understand my child’s behavior wasn’t defiance—it was emotion.

Say it louder for the fulltime working parents in the back who feel immense guilt (and fear) having to send their children to daycare every day 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Today our company is no longer allowing educators to be alone in a room. This is going to help all of us tremendously!! Especially the children 🩷 I also think CCTV should be compulsory in every center

Can we please change the narrative. We all have a choice. I changed carers and got a job from home to be able to raise my kids. We can do it ladies we can make it work financially. They are only this small for a short amount of time. The social norm of sending a 6 month old to preschool 40+ hours a week isn’t normal at all.

As a woman ECE, the problem is not the educators or male educators… it is not the other educators who didn’t see an issue or may be they did and they spoke up and nothing was done. The government needs STRICTER policies in childcare, NO 1:1, lower ratios and more individualised training. When I started as a Crrt 3 traineeship, from the day I started I could be alone with a child…

The problem is our society is fixated on generating more wealth. When wealth is placed above human rights, children's rights, safety and security; this will always continue to happen. They don't care about individuals, they care about lining their pockets.

20 centres in 8 years is also wild !!! That’s not even 6 months per centre… how wasn’t this a red flag ?

Been in the industry for nine years… over the years I have found that people are hiring literally anyone with experience because we have no staff… this is what causes people to slip through.

Thank you for this! I’m due to have my first baby in 3 weeks, I’ll be returning to work full time when she’s 9/10 months old. The immense guilt I have been feeling, seeing so many people shame mums for sending their babies to childcare because they have to work is crazy 😭

The real issue that nobody will talk about (again) is 88% of all SA in children is committed by family members or somebody known to the child. But again people in the comments will make it about SAHM vs working mums. Ladies not the real battle here - let’s all attack each other instead of holding promdominantly males accountable. https://www.aihw.gov.au/family-domestic-and-sexual-violence/types-of-violence/child-sexual-abuse.

Thank you! You are the first mother to say this and not blame men! Cause it’s not a gender problem it’s an industry and department issue!

As an educator this is the best thing I’ve heard! The majority of us are in there for the children and assisting their development. Thankyou for saying this ♥️

The fact that they’re banning mobile phones for workers in the centres as if that’s gonna help that much 🙄🙄😭😭

I wish I didn’t have to send my child to daycare. I’m thankful I don’t live in one of the areas impacted, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t/won’t happen without my knowledge 😢

The government throws money at families to get mums back to work yet allow things like this to happen. The government need to man up and sort out the system.

agree with you... but additionally, I think that other educators and centre directors definitely have a responsibility to ensure children are not being left alone with an educator.

It’s other centers not being high regulated and not fully caring or supporting (work at excellent rating and to me the best in Melbourne) it’s centers and mangers that need to do better and the system needs be more regulated and safe 🙂‍↕️disable childcare educator and sad and sorry and sacred

They need a regulatory body like health practitioners do, renew registrations every year. Working with children checks should be done yearly not 5 yearly

Your private service providers are making a lot of money and often they’re utilizing a legal workaround called an ‘under the roof ratio’. It’s probably the only time an educator would have the opportunity to do something like did. Lots of centres utilize this workaround to mitigate paying more staff. Ask your providers how often and when they utilize this!!! Also, the ratios as the stand are a minimum! Demand above the minimum from your providers!!! We are paying them and they are lining their pockets while the workers do not see these profits. We need to raise our expectations and demand more to be done from a governmental level.
