Radiated emissions (from differential-mode currents) are directly correlated to the area enclosed by the current loop. What does this mean for you? If you control the loop, you can control the emissions. Where most designers fail is understanding the area enclosed by the loop. The area of the loop is essentially the area enclosed by the transmission line structure. This means the area enclosed by the signal forward path and signal return path. If you can shrink the area enclosed by these two conductors, then you can also shrink emissions from differential mode currents. This is one of the most underrated design tips I used to pass EMC on the first test. EMI is not Black Magic. Hope this helps you.
